The New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York is seeking a Receptionist/Office Assistant to be part of the Mission’s support team, providing the initial interface with the public.

 

This is a locally engaged position.  The Mission does not provide assistance with airfares or accommodation.  Applicants must have the ability to gain and maintain a New Zealand security clearance.

 

The Receptionist/Administrator will be responsible for:

 

Reception

-                      Answering the phone and taking messages as required

-                      Controlling access to the Mission by visitors and accepting deliveries

-                      Day to day office coordination

 

Operational Support to the Seconded Policy team

-                      Providing administrative support to seconded staff

-                      Arranging travel

 

Finance

-                      Accounts payable and receivable processing

-                      Administration of medical claims

-                      Administration of leave

-                      Travel claims

 

Events

-                      Making arrangements and providing logistical support as required for
      representation functions hosted by seconded staff (other than Ambassador
      and DPR)

 

Property

-                      Monitoring service performance and scheduling routine maintenance as
     required for office equipment, eg phone system, copiers etc

 

Works of Art

-                      Monitoring location and condition of MFAT-owned works of art

-                      Completing annual return of WOA register for Wellington

 

Motor Vehicles

-                      Arranging purchase or leasing, registration, insurance and disposal of 
     official vehicle.

-                      Monitoring maintenance of motor vehicle and compiling vehicle maintenance
      records.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have proven written and oral communication skills and prior experience in a front line role is desirable.  Initiative is essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team and to back up others as required.

The General Election has been set for Saturday 8 November 2008.

Who can vote, how to check on enrolment and how to vote from overseas.

Who can vote, how to check on enrolment and how to vote from overseas.
If you are a New Zealander and are overseas during the election you can vote provided that:

a) you are enrolled

AND

b) you have passed through immigration control in New Zealand within the last three years (for New Zealand citizens) or within the last year (for New Zealand permanent residents).

Check your enrolment details or enrol online here and if you are not currently enrolled then you can enrol at this website.

If you are enrolled you will be able to vote using one of the following three options:-

1. Download your voting papers

Within three weeks of election day you will be able to download voting papers from the www.elections.org.nz website and then post or fax the completed voting papers back to New Zealand.

2. Apply for a postal vote

You will be able to apply to the Chief Electoral Office in New Zealand to have voting papers posted to you. These will be sent approximately three weeks before election day and you can then return them directly to New Zealand, or to your closest overseas post.

3. Vote in person

You will be able to vote in person at your nearest overseas post.

"Registration of New Zealanders Overseas"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has now implemented a new internet-based registration facility. This will enable you to record and update details about yourself, accompanying family members and your overseas residence/travel plans.
